Privacy Policy
Last Updated:
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Hoodsy ("Hoodsy," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information when you use Hoodsy's apps, websites, marketplace, Hood Board, messaging, payments, identity verification, background screening, support, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). This Policy does not replace notices or privacy policies provided directly by Stripe, Checkr, Apple, Google, or another third party.
2. Notice at collection
We may collect identifiers and contact information; account and profile information; approximate or precise location and job addresses; job, transaction, payment, and payout information; messages, reviews, Hood Board posts, support requests, and photos; device, authentication, security, and notification information; and sensitive information used for identity, age, payment, payout, tax, or background-check purposes.
We use these categories to provide and secure Hoodsy, connect Posters and Helpers, process jobs and payments, verify eligibility, communicate with you, prevent fraud and abuse, comply with law, and improve the Services.
We retain each category only for as long as reasonably necessary for these purposes or as required by law. Hoodsy does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
3. Information you provide
You may provide your name, email address, phone number, password or sign-in method, date of birth, profile photo, biography, skills, availability, service radius, transportation information, home or job address, city, state, ZIP code, and account preferences.
Posters may provide job descriptions, schedules, prices, locations, access instructions, photos, and other job details. Helpers may provide applications, work-related messages, completion notes, and proof-of-completion photos.
You may also provide Hood Board posts and replies, reviews, reports, blocked-user choices, and information submitted to Support.
4. Location, photos, and device permissions
With your permission, Hoodsy may access foreground device location to show nearby jobs, determine a neighborhood or nearby ZIP codes, complete an address, and support location-based marketplace features.
You may instead enter an address manually where that option is available.
Hoodsy may access your camera or photo library when you choose to add a profile photo, job photo, Hood Board image, message attachment, or completion photo.
You can change device permissions in your operating-system settings, although some features may then be unavailable.
5. Authentication, devices, and automatic information
When you use Hoodsy, we and our service providers may automatically receive a Firebase user identifier, authentication provider, verification status, app instance and integrity information, device and operating-system information, IP address, timestamps, app activity, error and security logs, notification preferences, push-notification token, and information needed to detect fraud or protect accounts.
If you sign in with Apple or Google, that provider sends Hoodsy information permitted by your provider settings, such as an account identifier, name, email address, or verified-email status.
6. Payments, payouts, identity, and background checks
Stripe may collect payment-card, bank-account, payout, tax, government-ID, selfie, date-of-birth, device, and identity-verification information under Stripe's own privacy terms.
Hoodsy generally receives transaction tokens, payment and payout status, limited account details, and verification results rather than complete card or bank credentials.
Checkr may collect identity information, date of birth, Social Security number, government-ID information, selfie images, address history, and other information needed for identity verification and background screening.
Depending on the flow, some Checkr application information may pass through Hoodsy's systems before being transmitted securely to Checkr.
Hoodsy may receive candidate, invitation, report, eligibility, dispute, identity, age, and background-check status information needed to operate the marketplace and comply with law.
Consumer-reporting disclosures, authorizations, and rights are presented separately where required.

We may disclose personal information to other Hoodsy users as needed to operate profiles, Hood Board, jobs, applications, hiring, reviews, messaging, safety, and payments.
Information you intentionally post publicly—such as Hood Board content, public profile details, reviews, or job information—may be viewed, copied, or reshared by others.
We disclose information to service providers that help with authentication, hosting, security, maps and geocoding, notifications, communications, storage, payments, payouts, identity verification, and background checks, including Firebase/Google, Apple, Stripe, and Checkr.

9. Job addresses and marketplace privacy
Job posts and nearby-job features may display an approximate area, distance, neighborhood, city, ZIP code, map position, or other location information.
More precise job or access information may be provided to users involved in a job when needed to coordinate or perform it.
Do not place private access codes, unnecessary personal information, or sensitive information in public descriptions, Hood Board posts, photos, reviews, or profile fields.
10. Retention and deletion
We retain account information while your account is active and retain other information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, complete transactions, maintain records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce agreements, and comply with legal, tax, payment, insurance, safety, and consumer-reporting requirements.
Retention periods vary by the type and sensitivity of information and the reason it is held.
When information is no longer required, we delete, de-identify, or securely isolate it. Backup copies may remain for a limited period before being overwritten.
Information may also remain with Stripe, Checkr, Apple, Google, banks, or other independent providers under their own retention obligations.

12. Sensitive personal information
Hoodsy and its providers may process sensitive information such as precise location, account credentials, payment or payout information, government identifiers, Social Security numbers, identity documents, selfies, dates of birth, and background-check information.
We use sensitive information only as reasonably necessary to provide requested services, verify users, process payments and payouts, protect safety and security, prevent fraud, and comply with law.
We do not use sensitive information to infer characteristics about you for advertising.
13. Security
Hoodsy uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including authenticated access and encrypted network transmission where supported.
No system, transmission, or storage method is completely secure. Protect your login credentials, use a secure device, and promptly report suspected unauthorized access through Support.
14. Adults only
Hoodsy is intended only for people who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly permit children under 18 to create Hoodsy accounts.
If we learn that an underage person provided personal information, we may suspend the account, remove the information as required, and take appropriate safety or legal steps.
Contact support@hoodsyapp.com if you believe an underage person is using Hoodsy.
15. International use
Hoodsy and its providers may process and store information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Those locations may have different privacy laws.
Where required, Hoodsy uses appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
16. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Hoodsy changes. We will update the effective date and version and provide additional notice or request consent when required by law.
Your continued use after an update is subject to the revised Policy where permitted by law.
